About Nick
Nick is an Senior International Examiner and Trainer for London College of Music/University of West London examinations. He has co-hosted LCME Webinars, is on the Teachers Help Panel, trains examiners and has completed 25 exam tours abroad to date. Nick is trained in all Speech and Drama subjects, and Musical Theatre too. He previously examined for Nationwide Music Examinations, for whom he wrote the Bass Guitar syllabus & the exam pieces for that instrument.
He has over 45 years teaching experience and teaches and examines up to Level 7 qualifications (FLCM). Nick has taught at the LCME summer School at Ruskin College, Oxford.
For many years Nick was Lead Tutor for Rock & Pop Development with the Blackburn with Darwen Music Service. This involved working with teachers covering over 900 pupils in Primary, Secondary & 6th Form colleges, to develop the learning of all styles of rock & pop instruments. He also wrote the complete Internal Award Exam Syllabus for Guitar & Bass for the Borough, and developed the Music Ambassadors.
He has had three books of Classical guitar compositions published by CORDA music, has worked on the LCM Theory papers plus Electric, Ukulele and Classical Guitar exam books. He prepares pupils if required for exams in Classical/Acoustic/Bass/Electric guitar and Ukulele. Other instruments such as 5 string Banjo, Irish Tenor Banjo and Mandolin are available. Nick also teaches the London College Rock/Pop theory exams. His teaching has been Quality Assured through the Blackburn with Darwen Music Hub, and he holds the enhanced DBS clearance. In January 2015 Nick was awarded ‘Experienced Exam Tutor’ status by the RGT, for continued success with pupils in the exams.
Nick is a member and Registered Tutor with the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and annually takes the University of West London Child & Adult Protection, Data Processing, Prevent Duty, Anti-Bribery, Cyber Security and Equality & Diversity courses/training.
